The last lecture of the semester was one that really brought everything together. Professonal standards were looked at as well as VIT (not that much info), PoLT, staff Code of Conduct and Duty of Care, different types of Assessment & Reporting, the 4 e's and not to forget who the Ideal Teacher is.
    • Someone who listens to what I have to say
    • Someone who bothers to get to know me
    • Someone who doesn’t yell at me
    • Someone who understands my feelings
    • Someone who praises my efforts
    • Someone who talks to me in the yard
    • Someone who wants me to do my best
    • Someone who keeps our classroom interesting so that I want to learn new things
    • Someone who encourages me to work with others & share ideas
    • Someone who believes in me
    • Someone who gets me to think about my learning....

All and all this was a great lecture. This unit was constructed in a great way :)
Thanks for a great semester !!!

"Everyone should live in harmony, no matter what garishly bright colour they might be."
The question and title of this weeks lecture was "Who are your students and how do you know?"
This week's guest lecturer was Profesor Tanya Fitzgeraled who bought with her along with a New Zealand accent many fine opinions about diversity in the classroom.

"Stuart thought he might have taken the Principle's metaphor a little far."
This weeks' lecture on teachers code of ethics and code of conduct was really insightful. Greg delivered a lecture which was a true eye opener, in regards to thing which I or anyone would have thought it was ok. Things such as relationship between teacher amnd student to start and end at just teaching, the whole idea of car pooling and a comforting hug were not appropriate.
Greg went through the moral issues (what ought one do? Socrates):

"Our school isn't poor, We just based our uniform on Oliver! Wonderful Movie."
While the previous Issues lecture was based around practicalities and the answering of student’s questions, namely ‘what’s with VELS’ and ‘how do you do a lesson plan?’ This weeks lecture was focused firmly on the theoretical and the provoking of questions in students minds.
As the title suggests it outlined various models of teaching and learning. These ranged from asking what was our belief system and comparing Top Down, Social Model and Bottom Up or ‘Radical’ methods of teaching.

"What we imagine a typical lesson planning session would look like."
This weeks lecture was an overview of the VELS standards and, how to approach a lesson plan.
VELS describes the basic learning standards for students to achieve from prep through to year ten across Victorian shools. VELS is organised in strands, domains and Dimensions.

    Lecture by Dr Howard Nicholas
This week we were joined by a guest lecture Dr. Howard Nicholas. Dr. Nicholas delivered a lecture which to me was one full of questions in regards to what challenges I will face as a teacher. He raise questions that you must answer in regards to your affectiveness as a teacher such as:
