So, you want to be a teacher? As a career it’s a curious creature. You’ll need the craft of a magician, And the skills of a master tactician. Plus don’t forget about being a Preacher.

Lecture by Dr Howard Nicholas
This week we were joined by a guest lecture Dr. Howard Nicholas. Dr. Nicholas delivered a lecture which to me was one full of questions in regards to what challenges I will face as a teacher. He raise questions that you must answer in regards to your affectiveness as a teacher such as:
What is your view of context? - how do you know what to teach, what is relavent?
What is your view of the physical world?
What is your view of the economic world?
What is your view of the ethical, spiritual or moral world?
These are critical questions ones' which we are to consider as primary teachers. As Dr. Nicholas said 'as primary teachers we are to have a view about everything'. We must look at these questions and then question ourselves about who we are, what we want to get across, in what ways will we get the message across. In answering these questions we need to adopt different elements of practice and develop different kinds of theories.
I took alot out of the lecture today in regards to the challenges we face whether it is cultural, spiritual etc. As a teacher you create the atmosphere and your take on different matters will possibly shape the opinion of your students.
What I also took out of the lecture was the fact that I should never give up and be proud of myself as a teacher!
